You Capture / Moving

This was a great week for moving.
We had a family birthday party and had some cousin races.

It was preschool olympics and Natalie loved the scooter board races.

We have never had our pool opened and warm enough to swim in by Memorial Day before.  This year the water was 82 degrees and there were lots of people in the pool.
Natalie realized very quickly that she no longer needed floaties to swim.  In less than a half hour, she was swimming across the pool all by herself.
Natalie also realized that she wanted the floaties on when she did some fancy jumping off the ladder.  She was doing all kinds of twists and turns.  I was happy she wore the floaties for that too.

Moving abounds at You Capture.

Who'd Have Thunk It?

Who would have ever thought that 41 years ago today would have been the start of this beautiful, wonderful family?  Certainly not me.  I was a 16 year old crazy sophomore in high school and the last thing I was thinking about was marriage.  He was 19 and out of school year and working in the construction field.

I have a crazy busy day ahead and don't have time to write the whole story, but I did once before.  Please click on the link and read how it all came down.  I love the story.  It was so simple, but all these years later, I still love him with all my heart.
http://www.bacardimama.blogspot.com/2011/05/it-was-40-years-ago-today.html

I have to get workout clothes on and "Run the Hood" with the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.  I'll be walking the Hood, but it still counts.  Then I have to get grocery, do laundry, some of the kids and grandkids are coming to go in the pool, address invitations to a birthday party, do laundry, etc, etc, etc.

See why I don't have time for a big new post?

Happy Memorial Day, my friends.  Hope you make it a good one and remember what it's really all about.

p.s.  There are four grown up in-laws that go with this group.  Four wonderful men who love our daughters with all their hearts.  Who knows what they will be writing 30 or 40 years down the road about their love stories.

Sharing our Spoons / Week 3

Hard to believe it is already week 3 of Sharing our Spoons.  Have you joined in yet?  Here's how I did on my goals from last week...
.
1.  Physical:  I want to add walking to my fitness routine.  I think I'll start with three days and three miles.  Sounds like a goal I can do.  I got in two days and three miles, so I'll call that a good start.  I did a zumbathon on Friday night and danced for two and a half hours, so maybe that can make up that third day for me.
2.  Mental/Emotional:  This week, I want to show some patience and not speak any negative thoughts to my husband or family.  I give this one a 50/50 score.  It's a lot harder than it sounded.
3.  Spiritual:  We have a little chapel on the campus where I teach.  I want to spend some time there after work a few days.  Seeing how I didn't define how much time "some time" was, we can call this good too.  Only one trip, but it was very peaceful and quiet.
4.  Something Fun:  I want to go to the beach with my husband for sunset.  I'll take the camera (of course), but mostly I'll just enjoy the calm and time alone with him.  Unfortunately, this was a total fail.  It was such a busy week, it just didn't happen.  It will though!
5.  Bonus: Comfort Zone/  It is supposed to be hot here this week.  This may sound really stupid to some of you, but I am going to wear a sleeveless top to work.  I hate my flabby upper arms and never wear sleeveless, so this is a big deal for me.   Hope I survive it.  Not only did I wear a sleeveless top more than once, I bought three new ones.
Goals for week 4.....
1.  Physical:  On May 28, I am doing the virtual 5k with the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.  I am a contributing writer there.  I don't plan to run it because I really hate running as much as it hates me.  What I would like though is to walk it in under 45 minutes.
2.  Mental/Emotional:  Because last week didn't go as well as I had hoped, I'm going to once again try to show patience and not speak any negative thoughts to my husband or family.
3.  Spiritual:  I am going to read the book "Prayers with Purpose for Women".
4.  Something Fun:  Because it was a total fail last week, I will once again keep the same goal.  I want to go to the beach with my husband for sunset.
5.  Bonus:  Comfort Zone:   Drawing attention to myself is something I rarely do.  It's just not me.  Once a year, I do just that though and this happens to be the week.  Thursday is Preschool Olympics and I am the lucky teacher who runs in and lights the olympic torch.  It might not sound like much to you, but I do this in front of 72 preschoolers and 60 or 70 adults.  I find it intimidating!

So...those are my new goals for the upcoming week.  Check back next Tuesday and see how it went.

Sharing our Spoons / Week 2

I can't believe that it is already Week 2 of Sharing our Spoons.  I am happy to say I had a pretty good first week.  Here's how it went....
  1. Physical: My fitness instructor really upped our workouts and I want to give them my all.  The workouts are harder and I want to push myself harder.   I didn't miss a workout last week and I gave them my all.
  2. Mental/Emotional: I am going to spend the first five minutes of my day as I lay in bed just breathing and planning my day calmly and clearly.   I would say I hit five out of seven days with this goal.  I had a couple mornings when I hit snooze once to often.
  3. Spiritual: I am going to go for walks at the dunes and the nature park.  I want to enjoy all the flowers blooming and thank God for all the wonderful things in my life.    I only got to take a couple walks, but I loved them.  I took my camera and had a wonderful and restoring time.
  4. Something fun:  I am going to get a professional facial.  I haven't had one in many years and I love them.    I got the facial and it was awesome.  I was so relaxed that I actually fell asleep and woke myself up with a snore.  Lucky for me, I know the girl that did the facial and we had a good laugh.
  5. BONUS: One thing to get you out of your comfort zone a week.  I am pretty much a stay in my box girl, so I need to give this one some more thought.  I'll let you know next week what I did.     I think one of my biggest fears in the whole word is deep water.  It just scares the crap out me.  I am going on a girls trip this summer to the east coast.  We will be spending several days in New York.  It will be the first time there.  How can I go to New York City and not go to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty?    Stepping out of my comfort zone this past week has been to commit to getting on that big boat and heading out on the ocean.  It is scary just to type that.  It may take several Bacardi and diets to do it, but I will do it.
Now it's time to set some goals for this week.  I've been giving it some thought and here's what I came up with.
1.  Physical:  I want to add walking to my fitness routine.  I think I'll start with three days and three miles.  Sounds like a goal I can do.
2.  Mental/Emotional:  This week, I want to show some patience and not speak any negative thoughts to my husband or family.
3.  Spiritual:  We have a little chapel on the campus where I teach.  I want to spend some time there after work a few days.
4.  Something Fun:  I want to go to the beach with my husband for sunset.  I'll take the camera (of course), but mostly I'll just enjoy the calm and time alone with him.
5.  Bonus: Comfort Zone/  It is supposed to be hot here this week.  This may sound really stupid to some of you, but I am going to wear a sleeveless top to work.  I hate my flabby upper arms and never wear sleeveless, so this is a big deal for me.   Hope I survive it.

So...that is my new plan for the week.  Have you joined Sharing our Spoons yet?
